Who can enter
Individuals, companies or associations involved in any area of  print production including:
advertising agencies, art and design studios, advertisers and clients, book binders, printing companies, pre-press companies, paper merchants, or any other person or company associated with the production or purchase of print.

How much does it cost?
$45 per entry inclusive of GST. There is no limit to the number of entries submitted. Where a duplicate entry of the same item is entered into the same category by different entrants, priority will be given to the printer’s entry and the subsequent entry and payment will be returned with a letter of explanation to the other entrant. Cheques for entry fees should be made payable to PICA Victoria. If sending more than one parcel, mark 1/3, 2/3 etc.


Entries of value should be insured by the entrant. PICA Victoria accepts no responsibility for any entry that is lost or damaged. An additional $40 fee will be applicable for Gold Medal winning entries that go through to the 2012 National Print Awards.

Filling out the entry form
An official entry form must be completed for each entry. (Photocopies are acceptable or download additional forms at www.picavic.com.au). Please supply typed or clearly written details. Forms must be fully completed with accurate spelling as the details submitted on the entry will be used as copy for the Award Book and certificates. The committee accepts no responsibility for any inaccuracies in the details submitted. Entries thought to be wrongly categorised by the entrant will be verified and confirmed with you by phone and in writing before judging commences.

Section A of the entry form is used to catalogue all entries and is not shown to the judges.
Attach Section A to the front of your entry.

Section B is for technical details to be considered by the judges. Tape Section B to the back of your entry.

What you need to supply in the way of printed samples
Two printed samples should be submitted where possible with each entry form. In the case of Labels please ensure 5 continuous images are supplied. Carefully select samples of your best work with no obvious imperfections and carefully package your entries to reduce the risk of damage in transit.

Entering the same piece in more than one category
There is no limit to the number of entries submitted. Where an entrant wants to enter the same entry in more than one category, a separate entry form, fee, and sample must be supplied. If only one sample can be supplied, this should be noted on a separate entry form, together with details of the category and entry which samples have been sent, and a fee for the entry in the additional category must be provided.

Entry eligibility
Entries in PICA Victoria 2011 must have been printed between 1st September 2010 and 26th August 2011.

Does my entry need to be produced in Victoria
Reproduction film, printing and finishing must be produced in Victoria.
There is no restriction on the type of stock used or the method of printing. Imported stock, artwork or photographs from overseas sources are acceptable.

Return of samples
If you require your entry to be returned, a freight docket must be supplied and noted on the entry form under additional information - Section A.

Judging
The judges are appointed by PICA Victoria Committee for their expertise across the various categories. Judging is based on the craftsmanship and excellence of print quality achieved. Entries have all production information removed before judging and are identified by number only to ensure completely independent and unbiased assessment. The submitted sample will be assumed to be representative of the total run. Entries thought to be wrongly categorised by the entrant will be verified and confirmed with you by phone and in writing before judging commences.

What happens after the judging
Entrants, their suppliers, clients, partners and colleagues are all invited to the Awards Presentation Dinner. Everyone who attends the Presentation Dinner receives an Awards Book valued at $40 free.

What happens when you win
All Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winners, as well as Major Sponsor Award winners, will be recognised during the Awards presentation on Friday 4th November 2011. Awards will be announced in category order and gold medals will be presented on the night to the person nominated to receive the award. All Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates will be mailed out after the Presentation Dinner.

All winners will be featured in the Awards Book and on the PICA website and their work will be displayed at the Presentation Dinner.

The Awards Presentation Dinner
The PICA Victoria Presentation Dinner is the highlight of the State’s printing industry calendar. This is the night when friends from all around Victoria gather together and the industry celebrates the achievement of excellence in ‘Print – The Art of Craft’. This year the PICA Victoria ceremony will be held at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, 25 Collins Street, Melbourne on Friday 4th November 2011.
