  3. Leaflets – 4 or more colours on a single sheet.
  4. Presentation folders.
  5. Booklets, catalogues and magazines saddle-stitched.
  6. Booklets, catalogues and magazines bound by any method but saddle-stitching.
  7. Annual reports – any format.
  8. Calendars – any format.
  9. Stationery – any format (to be supplied mounted).
  10. Postcards and greeting cards – sets will be judged on the average standard of the items submitted – small items should be display mounted.
  11. Limited editions or Art reproductions – may include books, manuscripts, art reproductions etc. that are produced in numbered quantities; by any printing process. The total number produced must not exceed 1000 copies.
  12. Book printing, case bound.
  13. Book printing, limp bound.
  14. Book printing, digitally printed.
  15. Multi-piece productions and campaigns – such as folders including leaflets, ring binders including inserts and /or indices, printed envelopes including their contents or any other production of two or more items. Campaigns can be three or more items with a consistent theme produced during the year by the same printer for the same client.
  16. Impact, Sensory or Direct Mail - Impact Mail is a delivery service that allows customers to send addressed mail items of virtually any shape or design, without the need for an envelope. Sensory mail includes items of visual impact ( e.g lenticular printing), smell, taste, sound or touch. Direct mail can include any item addressed or unaddressed including marketing and promotional material. Entries may be produced by any method on any substrate.

  27. Digital printing, non inkjet – entries will be judged on a combination of production and most appropriate use of technology – state name of the press in the additional information (Section B of entry form).
  28. Digital printing inkjet – entries will be judged on a combination of production and most appropriate use of technology – state name of the press in the additional information (Section B of entry form).
  29. Digital printing wide format – entries will be judged on a combination of production and most appropriate use of technology – state name of the press in the additional information (Section B of entry form).
  30. Embellishment – the enhancement of a printed job by the addition of decorative processes. Entries will be judged on the embellishment component only. These may include embossing or debossing, gold blocking or other foiling, or the used of specialised adhesive panels. It does not include, for example, the addition only of a spot varnish. The Gold medal for this category will be made to the Embellishment Company.
  31. Self promotion – entries, regardless of category or format, that promote your organisation and are produced by your organisation, will be classified as self promotion.
  32. Innovation – this is the only category which is not primarily judged on print quality. It is intended to explore entries which demonstrate the innovative use of machinery, processes, stock or mechanics. A short statement giving reasons for entering this category is required.
  33. Small printing business awards less than 15 staff – any format, any number of colours, any material, printed by a business with less than 15 staff including directors. State total number of staff in additional information box (Section B of entry form).
  34. Sustainable Green Print Environmental Award - will be awarded to a Print Business based around the following criteria: Demonstrable recognition of environmental leadership by Customers; auditable reduction in waste, reduction in energy and water consumption in operations as a percentage of output.  The Award is designed to recognise the efforts of print businesses to reduce their own impact on the environment and efforts to educate customers on the efficient and effective procurement of print.  Entries may be in the form of an overview of the Company’s initiatives over the past 12 months, or may relate to a specific project undertaken internally or with a customer during this timeframe.  Entries should be between 500 – 750 words, and will be treated as Commercial in Confidence.  The judging panel will include experts from both Print and Environmental backgrounds.
  35. Design.  Design specifically for print, taking into account print methods and materials.  Includes embellishment, screen-printing, diecutting and creative use of paper stock.
